MAINTAINING POSITIVITY

The last few months have been trying to say the least. Applications galore as I try to reach my goal for the academic pathway I wish to follow. I trust that my instincts are right and that this is where my destiny lies, but trying to remain positive as I move through these challenges is difficult. I guess that this is a test of my mettle that I have yet to prove. Be with me friends as I await the results. I need encouragement to stay positive.

Sometimes the world.......
does not seem fair
and I try not to despair
As I try to stay in focus
in control of my locus
Waiting for the day
when someone can say
that my goal is in sight
and I am moving toward the light
of the dream I have worked for
which is the essence of my core
Patience is the key
and the belief in my ability
Time will pass by
and I will continue to reach for the sky
to realize my dream
by staying with the theme
(Words by Alison)

Be well one and all and strive for your dreams too!

CROSSROADS

"Crossroads"

"In the middle I stand
Not quite sure where I will land

Look left then right
Find my insight

Look up then down
To make sure I don't drown

The direction I go
will in any event show

Where my journey goes next
as I write my new text

So step forward with purpose
until you resurface"
(Alison)

Sometimes in life we have so many options coming our way that we stand paralyzed, not sure which is the right route to go. We are scared to step forward and make a decision because we are not sure if it is the right one and will cause us to stagnate or entertain disaster.
When in the throes of this dilemma, the best thing to do is - take a sheet of paper and a very big pen.
  • Write down the Pros and the Cons
  • Chart a map of the goal to which you are headed.
  • See if those Pro's and Con's fit into that map
  • Sometimes, the Con's outweigh the Pro's and vice versa
  • Sometimes the Con's and the Pro's are a necessary part of the journey, like little mountains and refreshing streams along the way
Putting your head in the picture and then stepping back is a good way to make that final decision. Find the right perspective and you will understand what you see.

More importantly the journey you're on has to have meaning. Without it there is no point.
So find that meaning in the crossroads you face and the meaning will steer you with courage and strength as you make your way forward, even if some of the choices don't seem to make sense at the time.

Good luck on your journey!
Till next time - Happy Reflections

LIFE FORCE

The year is flying by and the hours in the days never seem to be enough. On pondering this problem, I decided that there were three possibilities. Either -
  • I am doing too much
  • I am working ineffectively
  • I am distracted by unessential things in life or
  • My inner candle is burning low
The decision therefore is to become more mindful of the world in which I am living - to take stock of
  • Where I have come from
  • Where I am at and
  • Where I am going
To do this involves the setting aside of time to think about things, write down some thoughts, create a silent space in which to reflect on the above and to reframe the journey to come.
I have some work to do!

Although planning is good, spontaneity is too, so just rely on your inner life force to slow down your soul, still your mind and the answers will come. We cannot be too many things to too many people. The consequences are bound to surface at some time or another.
If frustration is the core of your day, then put out your stop sign and take the time to examine that inner you. The answers will come in their own good time, and the rewards will start gently floating in your space.

There comes a time
when you reach the end of the line
The tank is near the end
and the energy levels are struggling to expend

The Solution therefore
is to intake some more
Of the life force designed
for the individual in mind

So dig deep and comprehend
what other way you can extend
The inner Life Force that is your own
so the seeds of your talents can be sown
(Alison)

Happy contemplations to you all
Until next time.

CENTREDNESS

In this busy world of ours it is all too easy to lose focus as we go about our daily life. Sometimes, taking a breath and assessing the different directions we can take can lead to an informed decision, not necessarily the right one but at least it will have a better chance of success, if all the pros and cons are weighed up.
Take time out at the end of each week, to assess what you have accomplished, to reflect on outcomes, and to zoom in on reasons why certain actions were not successful. Open that diary, put down your thoughts and....
Then...let it go and relax.

Before you start the week again, refocus, find that point of concentration and centre your thoughts on what you need to achieve. Doing so will help you keep the balance required to be effective in everything you do. Have a strategy for the week with space for adjustment. Multi-tasking is all very well, but it can lead to ineffectiveness, so compartmentalize your responsibilities/activites and try and centre yourself on each one as you do it. Doing so will save time and increase effectiveness. Laser point your energy into the task at hand, just like paying attention when someone is speaking to you. Give it your full attention.

Don't just pay attention to the mental aspect of your life, but find a balance and focus in all areas of your life including nutrition, exercise, spiritual, mental activity and relaxation.
Find your meditation protocol, whatever it is and renew your energy through that. We are all different and find our centredness in different ways. Do that self-assessment and do what works for you.
Try it and then assess the results in concrete terms.

As the week draws to a close
Take the time to sit in repose
Break the surface of your thought
or else you will see nought

Once deeper inside
The centre will glide
Into the path of your sight
To help you see the light
(Alison)

I wish you well in your next week of life and urge you to try to find that Centredness which helps you to focus and grow each day.

Until next time!
